High blood pressure (hypertension) is when the force of blood in the arteries stays above 130/80 mmHg. Known as the “silent killer,” it often has no symptoms but can lead to heart disease and stroke. Dr. Brown reviews home blood pressure (BP) readings, checks for underlying causes, and creates a personalized treatment plan. To ensure reliable readings, patients should sit quietly for about 5 minutes, rest the arm at heart level, and avoid stress or conversation during measurement.
Whereas many other providers focus primarily on just adding more tablets, Dr. Brown first performs a deep dive analysis assessing lifestyle patterns and checking for potential drug interactions. He believes in a more wholistic approach utilizing diet, exercise, yoga, smoking cessation, stressreduction techniques & other modalities to get your BP under control- alongside optimizing your medications when needed.
Heart failure does not mean your heart has stopped working; it means it needs support. When the heart cannot pump efficiently, fluid can build up in the lungs (causing shortness of breath) and in the body (leading to leg & abdominal swelling).
With close communication, Dr Brown uses a holistic approach to treatment, not just tablets. He evaluates and manages early to intermediate heart failure, assessing diet, fluid retention, and other causes while emphasizing nutrition and water restriction. Medications are optimized using the four pillars of treatment, with close monitoring, daily weights, and lab work.
Through direct access to your cardiologist, Serenity offers clear guidance- with no guesswork. You never have to guess what to do when your weight changes, breathing worsens or lab results shift. With direct communication between you (and the hospital if necessary), Dr. Brown provides a clear action plan. This ranges from adjustment of your diuretics (if needed) to coordinating hospitalization (if required). For more advanced cases, Dr. Brown coordinates care with subspecialists, ensuring you receive the right level of expertise at the right time.
Serenity offers cardiology, internal medicine, weight management, diagnostic testing, and telemedicine services focused on personalized care.
We are "out of network" with all insurance plans. We do not have contracts with any commercial health insurance companies. We will gladly provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement, if requested. Unfortunately, insurance reimbursement only provides for limited interaction and consultation with physicians. (This is why many physicians only spend 5-10 minutes with their patients). We are dedicated to devoting the necessary time and attention beyond what traditional insurance dictates. Cutting ties with insurance companies allows us to provide the kind of service that you deserve.
You should keep your regular insurance for any outside imaging or lab work which may be needed. Your insurance plan should cover hospitalizations & emergency room visits.
Unfortunately, we do not accept Medicare or Tricare at this time and we can only see patients < 65 years of age. This may change in the future, so kindly add your name to our mailing list and we will update you once this policy changes.
For both Cardiology & Internal Medicine, we provide an initial consultation for all patients for an a la carte fee. For ongoing care, we offer two models of care
1. Membership. Comprehensive support where you have levels of access to Dr Brown via text messaging or phone call (in between visits). Imaging tests are discounted & follow ups are included.
2. A la carte. Choose to pay per visit, if you believe this is the right fit for you
By declining to contract with insurance companies, Dr Brown is able to provide lengthy, patient-centered appointments. He is also able to keep wait times to a minimum, provide transparent pricing, and focus on individualized, preventive care without limitations.
We provide you with a Superbill to submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. You should still maintain your health insurance benefits for testing, medications, and other preventive or acute care.
We understand that schedules change, and we’re always willing to accommodate patients in these circumstances. If you realize that you have a scheduling conflict, please contact us as soon as possible to cancel or reschedule your appointment(s).
We must be contacted at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time. If you do not contact us > 24 hrs prior to the appointment, then additional charges may apply.
Patients: You can order your own consultation at Serenity. No referral is required. If you’ve been referred by your doctor, please ask them to reach out to Dr Brown directly for expedited care
Providers: For referring physicians, we accept patients from both FL & NY. Providers, please do not hesitate to contact us for any question or to refer a patient by phone, email or this website.
We help manage heart conditions, high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, preventive care, and general medical concerns.
We cover Pensacola, Pace, Milton, Gulf Breeze and Pine Forest, including Escambia & Santa Rosa Counties. We welcome patients from other surrounding neighborhoods. With telemedicine we can see patients throughout Florida.
